REAL SHIT: want to know something?? I was 8 weeks out from a show here. Plenty of time. I HATED HATED HATED THESE PROGRESS PICTURES. . . I almost deleted them. At 8 wks out from a show, I looked at them and thought: 🤬😡 F THIS! I’m going home, I’m done. I have hate the gym today. I can’t believe that’s what I look like. F. I’m stopping on the way home to get skittles, I’m finished. 😂 🙄 I’m so relieved I can just quit. The thoughts in my head as I sat in the locker room were pretty messed up. I was embarrassed for anyone to see me in my suit as I was changing out of it. . . 😔 This isn’t a good enough physique (reality: I had plenty of time to tighten my legs up) 😔 I don’t like my Glutes 😔I didn’t work hard enough the past year (I will always have that mentality lol BC I always want to work harder though) 😔 I chose the wrong suit, I don’t want to wear it 😔 I have no business being on stage as a Pro 😔I’m quitting 😔 I’ll never be tiny enough in the waist 😔 I’m eating the wrong macros. I should have done this totally different (no, I was actually good there lol) 😔 I used to have great Delts ...... And on, and on, and on. HOW MESSED UP IS THAT??!! I look at these pictures now and think DAMN YOU LOOKED PRETTY GOOD AT 8 WEEKS OUT GIRL! 👌🏽💪🏽 I shake my head at how hard I was on myself. *to succeed, a certain level of Intensity, obsession, drive, being hard on yourself about intensity, drive, reps and cardio is required, Yes yes yes. . BUT DON’T FORGET TO GIVE SELF LOVE EVERY DAY TOO! I forgot to love myself more in that process. My mind was bringing me down at times. . . Every single goal you’ll ever have, all of it has mental struggles and some roller coasters associated w it at times but that’s normal. . . Remind yourself: all people go through this at one time or another. Keep things in perspective, have realistic expectations & great, supportive loving people around you with high vibrating energy!!! Let them support & nourish your mind too. . . But mostly, don’t quit. Please don’t give up. You will be stronger when that moment passes I promise. And it WILL pass. Quitting only accomplishes ONE thing. And that is no more progress.

IS A CALORIE A CALORIE? ⠀ Yes, if 1600kcal is an appropriate target for your weight loss goal, then sticking to either of these diets would bring results. ⚖️ ⠀ ⠀ However foods offer us more than just calories. Traditionally 'healthy foods' tend to be advantageous for weight loss because they are more voluminous per kcal, more filling and more micro dense. All of this creates a healthier, less hungry environment, which makes sticking to the diet more possible. 🥕 ⠀ ⠀ Trying to eat 1600kcal of processed foods will likely result in far less filling, less voluminous food and poor micro density. Following up with Trader Joe’s after one of their best executed items (the Butter Toffee Pretzels), here’s one where not so much. This beautiful Triple Ginger Cake really didn’t do much for me. 🤷🏻‍♂️ The cream cheese frosting is good but it otherwise tastes like a less complex carrot cake. It’s two layers of ginger cake with candied ginger, cream cheese frosting, and a rather pitiful amount of softened ginger snap cookie crumbles. I think this could have been really great with a crunchy gingerbread crust on the bottom or something. Can’t win ‘em all I suppose, but we will always keep trying ✊🏼 (who am I talking to?)

 #flexfriday 💪😎It's been a month since my last progress check in with myself and I imagined that since I have been so relaxed with my diet and half ass tracking and eating all the holiday treats I must have gained 5 lbs. I haven't skipped any training days but have seriously overindulged several times a week and at times felt bad that I fucked up my reverse diet that I really thought I would do this year lol. (That means staying structured with my food tracking and slowly adding more calories each week) Nope... didn't do it. Instead I have been all over the freaking place. Some days eating 1600 calories, others probably more than 3000 calories and often not feeling great because I thrive on consistency. But, I kept leaning on my habits and ate the veggies and protein and half ass tracked most days and most importantly maintained my daily exercise habits. Happy Friday friends! . . It’s hard to believe we had a big snowstorm at the start of the week, since it’s 50 and raining today and most of the snow is already gone 🙄😅. But, because it’s so dreary and yucky outside, it seemed like the perfect morning for a fat bowl of oats! . . I decided to intermittent fast again today (is intermittent fast Friday a thing? If not, I’m making it one) and decided putting something warm in my tummy would be a good way to break it this morning 😋 . . The deets: @bobsredmill oats (however many or little you want) -grated zucchini (I added it for a little extra volume and a little dose of  #micros. It honestly doesn’t affect the flavor at all) - chia seeds (awesome for digestion 💩💩) -  @pescience protein 4 oats -topped it with sliced nana, almonds, and of course,  @tedpeanutbutter creamy PB. . . Maybe it’s just me, but I honestly think oatmeal is super underrated. It’s filling, it’s a good source of fiber, it’s super versatile and it’s a great carb source. What’s not to love? 🤷🏼‍♀️

So, most of the time we are told that in order to lose weight, we need to eat less. Comment down below if you’ve been told this? - Although the comparison is with a sandwich, this will apply to plenty of other dishes/foods. - Eating less is probably the misconception that someone who didn’t do their research preached and well spread like crazy. They were most likely referring to eating less calories, as you can see from the picture, less amount of food doesn’t mean less calories. How often do you put your joints through their full range of motion? I've been a little slack recently with my mobility work so thought I'd ramp it up a bit and challenge myself. The foam roller between the opposing hip and the column is used to give me feedback of any sway coming from my pelvis, the ball in my knee pit is to increase tension and keep the motion true. . my Instagram is a little bit of the same but a little bit of everything different too . I talked about being ridiculously fat and I talked about how it was easier to pretend to be happy being fat than it was to do something about it. . I talk about the process of doing something about it and the highs and lows of that . Process that is still very much in process by the way. . part of that process is weightlifting and I talked about the highs and lows of that and then the merge into powerlifting and then competing and the highs and lows of that. . Genuinely for anyone looking at my page the only thing I really want them to know for sure if that I'm as honest as I can be, nothing sugar coated it's not a highlight reel it's a genuine account from a fairly normal person living a fairly normal lifestyle. . social media can carry a lot of stigma and a lot of judgement regarding what people post. if you want to use your social media as a platform to voice your opinion .. do it. if you want to use your social media as an opportunity to reach out to other people or to be reached from - then do it If you want usual social media to get your tits and ass out for all the likes, all of all the attention, then do it. So here are 6 tips that I personally practice to help you through the the Holidays. • Make water the first thing you drink in the morning to get a jump-start on your hydration. If you have a lemon or lime, squeezing it into your water to jump-starts your digestive system as it stimulates the gastrointestinal tract. Another added bonus is it also help relieve bloating and heartburn. • Positive mental talk will create positive energy to start your day. I start everyday with 3 things that you are grateful for, 3 things that would make today great and a daily “I am” affirmation. • To ensure adequate micro-nutrient intake aim for 2-3 servings of veggies & 1 servings of fruit by prepping them the night before. • To ensure you get enough protein, aim for 1 serving of protein at each meal. Take your daily total and divide into how may meals you plan for that day. This will help keep your body in an anabolic environment and support recovery. • Aim to get at least 20-30 minutes of physical activity in 4-5 days a week if you can’t make your regular gym schedule. Schedule it into your day like an appointment that you can’t cancel (unless you’re horribly sick). • Eat 3-5 balanced meals that include protein, carbohydrates, fat, and fibre. Most of all, keep it simple. It doesn’t have to be complicated!

Ps demorei, mas fiz e ficou DEMAIS! 📝 Ingredientes - 1 peito de frango cozido e desfiado - açafrão, pimenta do reino e sal rosa (temperos) - 1 creme de leite (0% gordura) - 1 lata de milho - 1 pote de creme de ricota light - 3 dentes de alho - azeite à gosto - 150g de queijo mussarela - batata palha . 📝PREPARO: Bata no liqui o milho com creme de leite e a ricota e reserve. Tempere seu frango e o desfie. Adicione a mistura do liquidificador ao frango desfiado e mexa bem. . Em alguma travessa despeje todo o frango colocando mussarela por cima. Depois coloque a batata palha e leve ao forno preaquecido à 180 graus por 20/25 minutos. ❤️🙏🏼 . Deliciaaaa!! .

January 2018: 150lbs ➡️ December 2018: 134lbs (in the picture but 131lbs currently). I completed another InBody scan at my gym today to track my progress from this year. My first scan was in April so I had already lost 6lbs at that point. Compared to my April scan I have put on 0.6lbs of bone mass, 1.3lbs of lean muscle mass, and I’ve lost 14lbs of straight body fat. I didn’t even know you could put on bone mass but the trainer explained as you lift heavy weights it puts tension on the bones and tells your body to up your bone mass to help lessen that tension from the weights. It’s especially important for women to increase bone density as we are more prone to osteoporosis as we age. What I’m most happy about is that my visceral fat, which is the dangerous fat housed around your vital organs, dropped from a Level 7 to a Level 4 (4-6 is healthy range)! My body fat percent is down to 19.7% which he said is in the same range as some of the top female athletes in the country! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 We both agreed my next step is to work on reversing my macros and maintaining my body weight while continuing to build muscle, which will ultimately still change my body composition. Ready to tackle 2019 and get in my best shape! Nothing like having a night where your patient has a neuro change, a fall, staff assist, a rapid response and ends up intubated all in the midst of getting an ER admit. Let’s just say I wanted two things at the end of shift — alcohol and a good lift...I went with the latter. ✖️#1 thing that holds people back from losing weight✖️⁣ ⁣ My personal opinion & observation...⁣ ⁣ ‼️RESTRICTION‼️⁣ ⁣ 💡 You need to be able to eat the foods you love and still get results, still get the body you desire⁣ ⁣ If you say no and restrict yourself from pizza, burgers, ice cream, peanut butter, and wine you will probably struggle to lose weight.⁣ ⁣ If you lose weight restricting, you will probably struggle to keep that weight off forever.⁣ ⁣ Most people I work with have actually lost weight before but then gained it back. ⁣ ⁣ They did it by cutting out carbs, alcohol, or going vegan.⁣ ⁣ You know why they failed to keep the weight off? It’s because they frickin loved pasta, bud light, and a juicy steak.⁣ ⁣ So what happens is they lose weight then just go bonkers on the foods they love then they do sabotage their results.⁣ ⁣ I have absolutely no problem with meal plans, keto diet, vegan diet, paleo diet, fasting, weight watchers because they all work if you eat in a caloric deficit.⁣ ⁣ The question you have to ask yourself though is this sustainable? Can I eat like this the rest of my life? Most times the answer is no.⁣ ⁣ That’s why I believe in teaching people how to eat whatever they want and still get results.⁣ ⁣ One mistake I made early on is I gave people strict meal plans. Was it because I thought they actually needed it? No, it’s because I thought they would think I was a lazy ass if I just said “here is your caloric target, eat below that and you will lose weight, and we will adjust the target next week if we need to”. It was all ego.⁣ ⁣ When the truth is that’s what actually drives results, it’s simple. I’m not saying it’s easy. The fitness industry wants you to believe it’s way more complex than that so they can usually sell you something.⁣ ⁣ Now I still once in awhile do meal plans for people who struggle binge eating or require it but my mission towards the end of working with them is they won’t need one. ⁣ ⁣ Eat the foods you love and still get results. That’s the simple and sustainable way. That’s the good life and it makes me smile when people understand that.⁣ ⁣ Hope this helps. Have a great weekend 💯 ✌🏼

Happy FRIDAY! Well, I haven’t done one of these in a while! As you can see, I am not shredded like I was 2 months ago, and guess what?! It’s OK!!! I’m bringing my weight back to normal as well as balancing out my hormones post-show. I’ve never “felt” any issues while competing, but that doesn’t mean that things don’t get out of wack when you’re cutting for a show, because they do, which is why reversing post-show and having a healthy off season is so worth it. Gone are the days when I’d binge after a show and gain 10+ lbs in a week. Yes, I’ve been there. Far too often have I been on consultations with people who have had zero guidance post-show and have binged and lost all of their hard work within 1 week. In my opinion, post-show guidance is more important than prep! So choose your coach wisely and do your research! Just because someone has a coach that gets them super shredded and lean for stage, doesn’t necessarily mean that their coach knows how to properly reverse them after competing. [let's talk about macros] the bandwagon I jump on and off of often.👋🏼What I like about macro counting: I know I’m eating enough food to replenish my body, through the process you slowly start learning more about foods (which are high in fiber, full of certain vitamins, etc), & finally I know that if I stick to it I’m going to see physical results. 👍🏼 Starting can be daunting, but once you get the hang of it, it’s not awful. I don’t count my macros every single week, but when I do, I use MyFitnessPal to help keep track of everything. Now let’s get to the main event! LUNCH! If you feel as 2018 was another year that slipped through your finger tips in regards to your health and fitness goals I encourage you to sit down and ask yourself the following questions. 1️⃣. What habits can I disrupt that will propel me towards my goals in 2019? 2️⃣. Did I implement my program this year or did I find excuses for my actions? 3️⃣. Do I have a support system that I can lean into when things get hard and I want to quit? 4️⃣. What are my strengths and how can I use those to my advantage? 5️⃣.
