[Mental Toughness] The time where we had to paddle through 11blisters in both hands, do 3 programs alone in an afternoon - paddle 10km Fartleg, Sprint 10x 1mins up a slope and do 50 portages (sprint to the pontoon, Carry the boat and run and sprint away). Apply heat cream during the warm up so that it will burn and it forces you to sprint so hard that the pain from the sprint will overwrite the pain from the cream and you will feel absolutely no pain. This type of pain threshold has no logic. When you race, and you want to Be There, to Be the fastest, you have to be a level higher than the rest. You have to enjoy the pain. [Kids training] Like everything else we do, we start with the basics. Same for kids training, we start with bodyweight exercises and strengthening their stabilising muscles. More important than training itself, it’s all about having fun and going through a variety of exercises to improve on the body’s movement and proprioception so help them develop better motor skills and to pick up movement activities a little faster in future (: Weights I believe, should be kept at its minimum and used only if they have a well conditioned stabilising muscles, good mobility and mastered their bodyweight exercises with proper form. I didn’t agree with the quality of the last video.  #repost. A superset today with heavy dumbbell press and into wide grip bench press until failure. I like doing this because with the bar above my head, it forces me keep the dumbbells completely above my chest. Also, in between this I was doing resistance band lateral raises to pre-exhaust my deltoids A couple tricks to build those tatas. Instead if doing isolation workouts to do Biceps curls. Why not be more efficient with you time in the gym and grow other muscle groups while you hit you biceps. Although your not directly hitting your biceps, your biceps will be the secondary muscle in 3 separate exercises. In the Pseudo planche push-ups, your biceps are activated so you don’t take a nose dive in this strength building exercise. The the deep push-ups, you almost have to curl yourself up to the push-up portion. As a side bonus your getting a awesome stretch on your chest to build muscle. . 🔻2 Ways to take your workouts to the next level. - What's super cool about fitness is there's so many ways to increase intensity of a work to make it more challenging. Such as adding more weight to a move, increasing the speed at which the move is performed, adding in a explosive element to the exercise, you can add a stability factor or focus on compound exercise. - Plyo ➿: I often add in jumps, pops, hops, bounces, anything that causes me to use my own body to add some space between me and the ground. As you can see in this workout I did plyo push ups, even the slightest little pop will added that extra little burn you're looking for and challenge your body to work more muscles. To keep my heart rate up during my lifts I like to add in plyo moves. So I'll do heavy squats, and lunges then burn my legs out with some jump lunges or jump squats. - Compound Movements🏋🏻‍♀️: Which is a multiple joint movement that works several muscles at a time. This is why squats burn a lot of calories you're using multiple joints to go through the movement as to where a seated bicep curl will only use one joint (Isolated movement). Combining moves means more muscle recruitment which means a more effective way to train in less time and hit more muscles. Opposed to just doing a reverse lunge then moving onto bicep curls try combing the moves, reverse lunge with a bicep curl. You'll notice your heart rate will stay elevated and you'll also have to focus on your stability too. Had a nice 6x6 on the incline bench today. I never usually record my bench but every week I hit flat bench twice and incline once, alternating from heavy sets to lighter volume focused ones. After working of weighted pull ups for a while to help progress my bodyweight pull ups numbers I've managed to get my pull ups from 8 reps to 12 reps 😊 so chuffed. Felt easy . A broken down checklist of what you need to do to build muscle. I followed these same concepts and put on 20lbs of muscle in 1-1/2 years. Now that Thanksgiving is over and we have plenty of left over ham/turkey for protein let’s make some gains. Now there are most definitely benefits of doing endurance training, but if building muscle or fat loss is your goal. Stay away from long distance/steady state cardio, it’ll just burn the muscle to achieve further efficiency. For maximum muscle growth/Hypertrophy, you want to be explosive in the concentric portion to get the weight up. Hold that contraction to get Time Under Tension, then SLOWLY on the eccentric/lowering the weight. Everyone will naturally be better at either endurance training or strength training. We were all born with slightly more of either slow vs fast twitching muscle fibers.
