Der 3.Advent. Ein Leben in mehreren Kulturen. Eben noch in Tarifa am muckeligen Ofen gesessen und nach Afrika geschaut dann mal kurz zum durchatmen im winterlichen Moskau und jetzt im subtropischen Bangkok. Auch wenn das Reisen schlaucht, nehmen wir uns die ersten Tage Zeit für uns, bissel rumliegen, nichts tun und Food. Kein Sightseeing, kein Termindruck- ausser wir wollen das so. Und so tauchen wir ein in das thailändische Lebensgefühl, wir fahren Tuktuk, essen Cavendisch Bananen, schlürfen Passionfrüchte, lassen den Computer updaten und putzen, geniessen unser Rohkost Restaurant um die Ecke, schwimmen im Pool und lieben unser Streetfood. Hier wird gerade unser Green Papaya Salad zubereitet. Schnell, frisch, scharf - und ohne Zucker! Das sollte man in Thailand nicht vergessen zu sagen! Hier wird gezuckert das die Schwarte kracht, eine gewisse Süsse ist in vielen Thai Gerichten wichtig-doch seitdem hier das weiss Gold Einzug gehalten hat und der echte Thai-Kokosblütenzucker als Luxus gilt-was Zucker generell sein sollte ein Hauch von Genuss-ist es aus, es gibt fast nichts ohne Zucker. So warten wir entspannt auf unser Gepäck-was auf dem Flug von Moskau zum Weihnachtsmann geschickt wurde, auch eine tolle Erfahrung mit fast nichts zu leben. SEAT POSITION FOR IMPROVED POSTURE! If we are all going to be sitting throughout our day, why not get into a position that is good for our posture and follows the curve of our spine.👍🏼🙏🏻 . Truth is nobody should be sitting for any period past 30 minutes but we all know that’s not the case and it can be sometimes hours before we get up from our desks, chairs, out of our car etc. But make a new habit by setting an alarm on your phone to get up and walk every 20-30 minutes wherever you are!👍🏼 . Getting in that right seat position can lessen back tightness/stiffness/pain, and make long road trips not such a big deal.👌🏼 . If you can maneuver your back rest we want it to follow the curvature of your spine, as you see in the post there are a couple positions that are not supporting the spine!😯 . The reason we want an improved seating position is to improve our posture therefore improving our bodies function doing daily tasks, and even improve our exercises. Moving most days is a good thing, but it takes intention & discipline because it is counter-cultural. Of course, rest days are important too, but most days should include movements to challenge our bodies strength, balance, endurance, control, and cardiovascular health. ----- For 2018, I set a goal of learning to do headstands and handstands. In fact, it was my emphasis in April as part of my daily fitness challenge. I made progress during that month, but didn't quite get it down. Any progress since then has been limited due to sporadic practice, because sometimes life is a bit much and a bit busy and/or tiring. But there are two weeks left in 2018, so here I am with family for the holidays returning to this goal and hoping for a breakthrough with some daily practice! You can see the progress I made by comparing this video with my baseline handstand video on our YouTube channel. ----- Is there something you can commit to everyday? Kind of obsessed with this now. 😬since the gym was crazy busy and the stretching area was empty, thought I'd work on some Strength building and some conditioning for the Bent arm press to handstand. This time Focusing more on the stacking and pressing part the move, 3 sets, with lots of rest and kept the reps low(5-6) not counting all the falls I took.😂 Then worked on handstands and alignment seperately. Still got lots to work on, like more shoulder mobility and Flexability. But that too, takes time. It's a long ways, but making steps toward the Handstand Pushup! . Then, saw an empty Smith machine on the way out and snuck a couple Front Lever holds in. I can’t remember the last time I felt this accomplished. 😊🙌 I have been working HARD to get to this side plank raised hip abduction. And it’s far from perfect, but I can do it! I would NEVER work on this stuff of my own volition, but another practitioner at my Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist’s office has been working with me on my hip strength and endurance. Although I am “strong” in general, my pregnancy and birth with Chance left me with weaker hips and core....especially gluteus medius. Which is not good news if I want to get back to running and lifting injury free long term. He has been pushing and challenging me to work on this and a handful of other bodyweight stuff through a series of progressions and practice...and a side of dry needling. And I can finally do it. Ok...not 3 sets of 10 on each leg, which is the eventual goal...but I can get 5!? 😄 I know some of you can crank these out like I do kettlebell clean and jerks, but this kind of stuff is hard for me and I feel pretty thankful for these hips that have carried and birthed 7 babies and get me around everyday. I’m gonna take care of them. Bullet proofing my core and hips is a long, tedious rehab process, but so worth it.
