Wrapped up the first 12 weeks on the  @juggernauttraining Powerlifting track yesterday. Beyond stoked on the progress with this program and excited to see what the next cycle will bring. I don’t normally squat or deadlift barefoot but since all my gym shit got stolen, this literally felt like the comfiest option. Went 9/9 on my lifts. I’d say 8/9 since i don’t think my 3rd attempt at bench would have counted (no pause). Super happy to reach my yearly goal of a 1300# total @198# body weight. Video 1: 450# Squat (10# PR) Video 2: 315# Bench (10#PR) Video 3: 555# Deadlift (25# PR) 1320# total.... time to get those numbers on the platform in 2019. The next 3 videos are a thank you to everyone whose helped out the last few days! Thanks for all the support and encouragement 🙌🏽.

ILLUSIONS BEWARE🤪 - There is no trick to this. Reduce calories + train hard = reduce body fat and you will begin to see change. - Over the last 8 weeks I have been applying this to my clients nutrition plans with results varying of course but none the less they have been reaping the rewards with many of them recording weigh loss results of 10-22kgs! - It took years to mould the physique I have now and that is why I am able to sometimes go so far off my calories and still come back to home base, looking lean with abs etc. The work must be put in first. - I don’t care what you take, fat burners, steroids, protein powder... if you are looking at it to be a short cut without putting in work the results will never be long lasting or truely great. - Thanks to the confirming mindset and motivation from my brother  @rileyjbyrne I can’t wait for 2019 and my first comp ✊

At some point, you will make a mistake in lifting weights. You need to know how to react to save your body or life from harm. You must learn how to fail. A few weeks ago I was bench pressing alone and miscalculated how much weight I loaded on the bar. I was lifting about 12% more weight than I intended. That may not sound like a lot. It was enough to make me mess up. Bench presses are a common exercise. They can be safe. But they are also one of the most deadly exercises in the gym. google “bench press deaths” and you’ll find a lot of fatal accidents. The barbell bench press requires you to take a heavy weight in a path over your skull and neck, then press it up and down over your chest and abdomen. Things can go wrong. So you should be very careful with them. Here’s what I did right: 1. I didn’t use clamps on my bar, which meant I could dump the weight if I needed to. 2. I noticed that something was weird about the lift. I made the wrong adjustment based on the wrong conclusion, but at least I noticed SOMETHING was off. 3. I have practiced bench pressing — and failing — a LOT with both heavy and light weights. 4. I didn’t panic, though I was pretty irritated and uncomfortable. Here’s what I did wrong: 1.Calculated my weights incorrectly. 🙄 2. After I misunderstood my problem, I adjusted my grip to a position that was not as comfortable or strong for me. 3. I “bottomed out” in my second lift. 4. I didn’t have the safety bars at the right height, which would have helped to catch the barbell. After realizing I didn’t have the safety bars at the right height, I attempted the “roll of shame.” That is a term for rolling a loaded barbell down your torso to your legs until you can sit up. At heavy weights, this can kill you. It is also darned uncomfortable, so I decided to try dumping the weight. To dump the weight, you tilt the bar a little to each side until the weight slides off - as controlled as possible. Your lesson: understand that lifting weights can be dangerous. Bench Press 185lbs Pause Reps (Strength focus)⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Goal: 1 rep max of 275lbs weighing 140lbs or less⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ Here’s what my bench workout looked like:⁣⁣ Bench warm up (just the bar) 20 reps⁣⁣ 95lbs 20 reps⁣⁣ 145lbs 10 reps ⁣⁣ 185lbs 3 reps⁣⁣ 205lbs 2 reps⁣⁣ 225lbs 1 rep⁣⁣ 235lbs 2 sets of 1 rep⁣⁣ Last set 185lbs 8 reps of pause reps (Shown in video)⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ This was my first time going heavy in 3 weeks so I just wanted to see where I was at. Will be doing more strength focused workouts these next few weeks. Bench Press Drop Set! (Been awhile since my last bench post)⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I was aiming for 4 sets of 5 reps (205lbs). On the last set however I was able to push myself and get 8 reps with 205 and 11 reps with 135.⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ I like to utilize dropsets a lot on chest day on my last sets of my exercises.⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ I find that it has been a great tool for me to further push my muscles when they are ALREADY fatigued. I believe this has been beneficial for me in terms of hypertrophy and muscle endurance.⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ Felt pretty comfortable with this weight and I’m slowly creeping back up to heavier weight. A little frustrated I’m still weighing 132lbs but I can live with it as long as I continue to get stronger.⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ Back to lifting 225 next week!
