I posted my elk steak dinner tonight on my story and I am getting a ton of messages about where i buy elk from. Y’all- I don’t buy it. The meat we eat at home comes from bow hunting. And I’m sure that’s going to result in some people unfollowing me, and that’s ok if you fully understand it in it’s entirety. I hiked 200 miles in 16 days in Idaho on this trip. I harvested my bull (male elk) with my bow. It was a fatal shot as I make sure I am as proficient with my equipment as I can be. I value life and I know that if I want to eat meat, I’m going to go out and get it myself with my bow - I don’t care if you’re vegan. I don’t care if you only eat bananas. I don’t care how you eat. What I do care about is respect. If you do eat meat- please understand that something died to nourish your body. For some of us, it’s in our blood to go out into nature and hunt for our food. 97% of Americans eat meat yet only about 3% of us hunt. Your food is coming from somewhere whether you saw it die or not - This elk will sustain me and josh all year (on top of the turkey, deer, etc we hunt). It’s the most amazing meat I’ve ever had (peep my story) and I know it lived a life God intended. On top of meat sustaining us, we have donated tens of thousands of meals over the years to those in need. Thank you for respecting me and this aspect of my life - @hoytbowhunting  @eastonarchery  @traegergrills  @bowmarbowhunting

We are one million voices for our planet! Today is a huge milestone, one that wouldn't be happening if you weren't here. When I started using Instagram in September 2012, I had no idea how far it would take me. Reaching 1M followers was an aspiration for me this year, and I do not take the responsibly of having this microphone lightly. Thank you for inspiring me to work harder in creating a better planet for all who call it home. Every one of the million, every one of you, that follows my account is in a position to make a difference in this world - to live a more sustainable life so that all of the Earth’s creatures can exist, knowing their needs and rights are safe. Let's keep changing the world together.

I remember taking this image like it was yesterday. I call it "Ephemeral Palace." After seeing tens of thousands of icebergs, this one in particular really spoke to me. Its size, shape, reflection and fragility all captured in a single moment in time. And soon after, gone forever. The reason I made such a massive coffee-table book is that images like this need to be seen big. Images like this appear in 14 x 22 inch spreads in  #borntoice. Link is in my bio.  #nature #ice  #antarctica  #book  #fineart  #Christmas

PETA Says Phrases Like ‘Bring Home The Bacon’ Are Comparable To Racism And Homophobia—blogged by  @margariiitas ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Idioms like “Bring home the bacon,” “Taking the bull by the horns,” and “flogging a dead horse” are just as harmful as homophobic and racist language, according to animal rights organization PETA. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Just as it became unacceptable to use racist, homophobic, or ableist language, phrases that trivialize cruelty to animals will vanish as more people begin to appreciate animals for who they are and start ‘bringing home the bagels’ instead of the bacon,” PETA wrote on Twitter. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ PETA offered phrase substitutions for terms involving animals. Instead of using “kill two birds with one stone” say “feed two birds with one scone,” and instead of “being the guinea pig,” say “be the test tube.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Words matter, and as our understanding of social justice evolves, our language evolves along with it,” PETA added. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Many argued over the platform, and several were angered over the dramatic comparison to racism and homophobia. Some followers even said PETA is giving vegetarians and vegans a bad name. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ PETA’s tweet comes after an argument made last month in the U.K that increased awareness of vegan issues could lead to new modes of expression. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Metaphors involving meat could gain an increased intensity if the killing of animals for food becomes less socially acceptable,” Shareena Z.
